The Chicago Project on Security and Terrorism (CPOST) is an international security affairs research institute based at the University of Chicago. Founded in 2004 by Robert Pape, Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, CPOST is best known for creating and maintaining the most comprehensive and transparent suicide attack database available.



The  Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV) is dedicated to the study of the causes, dynamics, characteristics and consequences of terrorism and related forms of political violence. In doing so, it is committed to rigorous, evidence-based, scholarly analysis that is policy-relevant but independent. Founded in 1994, the Centre is Europe’s oldest for the study of terrorism. CSTPV has been able to expand its research and teaching work as the result of a generous recent donation from the Worldwide Support for Development (WSD), chaired by Japanese philanthropist Dr Haruhisa Handa.

The FDA Office of Counterterrorism and Emerging Threats (OCET) provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for FDA’s national and global health security, counterterrorism, and emerging threats portfolios.



The Counterterrorism and Criminal Exploitation Unit is part of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations’ (HSI) National Security Investigations Division. The unit prevents terrorists and other criminals from exploiting the nation’s immigration system through fraud.


The International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) is a specialist centre within the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. ICPVTR conducts research, training, and outreach programs aimed at reducing the threat of politically motivated violence and at mitigating its effects on the international system. The Centre seeks to integrate academic theory with practical knowledge, which is essential for a complete and comprehensive understanding of threats from politically-motivated groups.



Founded in 1996, the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) is one of the leading academic institutes for counter-terrorism in the world, facilitating international cooperation in the global struggle against terrorism. ICT is an independent think tank providing expertise in terrorism.



The National Counterterrorism Center is the primary organization in the U.S. government for integrating and analyzing all intelligence pertaining to terrorism possessed or acquired by the U.S. government (except purely domestic terrorism); serves as the central and shared knowledge bank on terrorism information; provides all-source intelligence for same.




SATP is the largest website on terrorism and low intensity warfare in South Asia, and creates the database and analytic context for research and analysis.


The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism—better known as START—is a University of Maryland -based research and education center comprised of an international network of scholars committed to the scientific study of the causes and human consequences of terrorism in the United States and around the world.



The Terrorism Research Center is an important resource for threat group profiles.





The United States Bureau of Counterterrorism builds foreign counterterrorism capacity in the civilian sector and contributes to efforts in the military and defense sectors; develop and support programs in law enforcement, rule-of-law, and counterterrorism finance, and on topics ranging from cyber-security to crisis response.
