DDUC-100: Disaster Dog Unit Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Disaster Dog Unit Course enables a LE agency to transform an existing canine team and resident Handlers/Dogs to develop a combination of skills that, worldwide, are often separated into the two categories of Search-Rescue Dogs, and, Cadaver Detector Dogs. This 3-Phase course of instruction will train and certify this unit or squad according to a combined set of international Police Dog standards. This distinguishes a Disaster Dog certified unit from all other related K9 units worldwide.

The K-9 Standards utilized, the Training performed, and the Certification conducted in this Project comport with the protocols accepted by the International Congress of Police Service Dogs. These protocols are recognized worldwide and utilized by national level and elite dog units for 50+ nations worldwide.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: Upon Completion of this course, students will be trained in the following areas:
• Validate the agency requirements for certifying a disaster dog unit.
• Validate the requirements for accrediting each disaster dog unit.
• Provide the fundamental operational doctrine for Disaster Dog unit formation. • Provide, without limitation, minimum principles of safety in the unit. • Fully enable Disaster Dog Instructors to teach certifying curriculum and Provide Command Support.

MPTD-100: Multiple Purpose Tactical Dog Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The MPTD Course enables a LE agency to transform an existing pre-trained canine and fully-trained resident LE Handlers to develop a combination of skills for use in situations within the tactical environment: EOD detection, clearing of area/ route/vehicles and structures, SSE, tracking & pursuit and standard working dog functions including bite and arrest. This course of instruction will train and certify students according to international police working dog standards in practical mission scenarios. This course requires pre-trained and selected canine for course success.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: Upon Completion of this course, dog/handler teams will be trained in the following areas:
• Day/Night operations with distractors and stressors.
• Tracking, Urban & Rural.
• Explosive Detection.
• Tactical Search/Clear – Area, Vehicle and Structures.

SDSC-100: Search Dog Specialist Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will instruct canine-handler teams to perform the Search & Rescue mission (SAR) and fulfills the canine search specialist function in support of other search efforts including technical for day and night operations. This course provides an overview of rescue theory and practical training exercises for search methods and techniques. Technical rescue and collapsed structures will also be instructed. This course will enhance all search dog handling skills.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: Upon Completion of this course, students will be trained in all skills of the canine sfor the search specialist function
• Adhering to all safety measures without limit.
• Searching structures in S&R environments and use of canine search equipment and techniques.
• Assisting other search and rescue resources and personnel in SAR
• Component identification / target selection

CDD -100: Cadaver Detector Dog Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION:Upon completion, to possess all skills and functionality of the single purpose cadaver detection mission. This course instructs in basic-to-advanced techniques for human remains detection for handlers and dogs. Best practices for supporting other personnel from search teams to forensics and investigators are taught. This course utilizes diversion and wide variety of terrain and environment to support development of strong capabilities.

• Adhering to all safety measures without limit.
• Principles and practices for assisting the forensics mission with CDD
• Coordination with technical search efforts
• Support for death investigations

EDD -100: Explosive Detector Dog Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course instructs canine handler teams to perform the explosive detection mission in accordance with international standards. Training introduces current techniques and methods and interaction with agency EOD assets on explosive trends. Safety protocols are exercised without limit in the conduct of this training course. This capability acts as a strong and visible deterrent to crime and terrorism. EDD handler teams are presently the most effective countermeasure available for the detection of explosive threat. Methods and techniques for the effective search and detection of explosives in connection to persons, packages, areas, and structures will be taught.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: Upon Completion of this course, students will be trained in the following skills and function of the explosive detector dog mission:
• To provide all specialized response to explosive threats and unattended
• Adhering to all safety measures without limit.
• Searching persons, areas, structures and making use of canine search equipment and techniques..
• Assisting EOD and tactical personnel in search measures for explosive detection.
